Abstract

The article describes the current state of the training in history of psychology in Chile, focusing the analysis on 18 programs of history of psychology courses and other equivalent courses taught in the country. The results indicate that the field has been expanded and strengthened institutionally, in line with the trend observed in other countries such as Argentina and Brazil. Regarding the history of psychology courses, they are still present in Chile in most of the undergraduate curricula, representing an opportunity for the development of critical thinking of psychologists who must face contexts of increasing complexity. However, the traditional historiographical approaches in the teaching of history of psychology also persist. The article concludes with the argument that the modification of this trend is crucial for the future of a history of psychology that does not renounce to expand its audience and impact on the interior of the discipline.
